A bug!

September 2nd, 2009 by Rachel

i can hardly bring myself to write this…i caught elise with a bug in her mouth…when i fished it out, i had a fit…a quiet fit, so as not to scare 1,2,3, and 4, but a BUG was in her mouth! i promptly gave her water to wash it down…it was not alive, thank you Lord, or else the fit would have been really big…a live bug in my hand-no thank you…though i suppose it may be worse that it was dead since it likely died from ingesting whatever it is that the bug guy uses to keep bugs OUT of my house…this bug was IN the house, however, and in my precious baby’s mouth! i just can’t get it out of my head….eeek!

An open letter to the makers of Ro-tel

August 17th, 2009 by Rachel

dear people who make rotel
you make a great product, really you do. i use it in more meals than not, but there is just one thing i have a problem with. hot rotel. original rotel is practically perfect. not too hot, but hot enough so i don’t really understand the possibility that anyone would actual want a hot rotel, let alone the practically tasteless “mild” version you waste time stocking. the only time i have purchased the a fore mentioned alternatives (and in my opinion substandard products) was out of desperation. the shelf marked original had none-not a single can! so thinking that mild or hot would “do in a pinch” i purchased some of each. i later found out that neither comes close to doing the trick. in fact the market already offers “mild” rotel-it is called diced tomatoes. and now to the real point-hot rotel is not rotel at all. you have falsely led the american consumer to beleive that you have created a rotel that is merely a bit hotter. i would think increasing the chilis by 50% would be more than enough to suffice in producing a hot version of rotel, but NOOOOOO! you didn’t even use chilis…you used habaneros. not really the same pepper. well maybe technically the same kind of pepper but not really. green chilis used in original rotel are just right. i do like hot, but habaneros are HOT! not the same flavor. not a hot version of the product we all love, an entirely DIFFERENT product all together. please consider removing both redundant items from the shelf so there will be more room for the real rotel.
sincerely

he did change the world…

July 7th, 2009 by Rachel

it would be hard to deny that…his music has been heard around the world…oh for the gospel of Christ to reach so many! as i watch a little bit of the memorial for Michael Jackson, i am sad…sad for his family’s loss, sad for the world who so loved him, sad that he probably did not know the true and living King…i am asking myself, and you, now “are you found in Him today?”…

his crap and power are great!

May 22nd, 2009 by Rachel

benjamin’s favorite song right now is a mighty fortress is our God…i love it too, so i don’t mind singing it with him-usually several times a day! well, he knows alot of the words and alot of them are still hard so i explain them as we go…for quite a while he has been singing “his crap and power are great, and armed with cruel hate, on earth is not his equal” well though that isn’t exactly how it goes and since that is a sort of vulgar word, i DO correct him, but there are alot of times when i whole-heartedly agree that satan’s crap is great! thank the Lord that is not where our song ends! if you haven’t read (or sung) these great words lately you should…such an awesome testimony of God’s eternal plan penned by the great servant of our Savior, Martin Luther

A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
Our helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing:
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great, and, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.

Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing;
Were not the right Man on our side, the Man of God’s own choosing:
Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He;
Lord Sabaoth, His Name, from age to age the same,
And He must win the battle.

And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us:
The Prince of Darkness grim, we tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure, for lo, his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.

That Word above all earthly powers, no thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours through Him Who with us sideth:
Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also;
The body they may kill: God’s truth abideth still,
His kingdom is forever.

also, this is a great website with many wonderful hymns to play and sing along with during the day to keep our eyes fixed surely on HIM! have a great day in the Lord

April 13th, 2009 by Rachel

we had a lovely day…i was up and showered before the kids woke up…our day included pancakes, school (short), swimming, neighbors, naps for all, homemade sugar cookie making and decorating, more playing with neighbors, chicken and rice stir fry with onions, zucchini, and squash yum!, wrestling, cleanup, dancing and finally , baths from dad! seriously can a day get better…well then in the bath dad noticed some sun burn on 3 and 4! i wanted to cry-i said “oh what a bad mommy” to which my precious mallie replied “nu uh, you’re not a BAD mommy, you’re a GOOD mommy!” melt.my.heart. at least they remember the good, i pray they forget the bad! i am counting on it!
